This morning we left Ålesund at 8:30 am on a very comfortable boat operated by the Geiranger Fjordservice. This boat took us all the way to the little town of Geiranger via the Geiranger Fjord which is a UNESCO Heritage site.

We walked for 1km, uphill, rolling our big suitcase to the incredible Union Hotel.
The Union Hotel in Geiranger
We arrived at the hotel at noon and so we were too early to check in but we left our bags with the hotel and had a nice lunch in the hotel before going on a long hike.
Pre Hike lunch break in the hotel
We chose the Geiranger - Storsæterfossen Waterfall hike.It took us almost 3.5 hours and with the 508 meters of elevation gain, we were quite tired when we were done.

On our way down
Part of the way down, we took a different trail called “the old trail” which was not well maintained and provided us with some unexpected challenges
After all that exertion, we decided it was a good idea to have dinner with the hotel’s a la carte restaurant and it was a great idea. Our bodies really needed it.This was a simply fantastic day!
